The Environmentalist

The Environmentalist is an undergraduate publication centered on sustainability and environmental topics, broadly defined. Our mission is to foster interdisciplinary discourse on, analysis of, and engagement with sustainability and environmental issues at Yale - and beyond. To do so, The Environmentalist engages student writing ranging from long-form essays and analytical pieces to environmental humanities and photography. In addition to publishing work from across the College, we maintain a dedicated team of writers on staff to craft opinion pieces, book reviews, and climate stories.

Environmentalists Of Color Collective

The Environmentalists of Color Collective aims to build community among students of color who share an interest in the Earth, the outdoors, and environmental justice issues. By centering and celebrating the voices of environmentalists of color, we seek to challenge the historical and ongoing marginalization of people of color within environmental movements. We engage in this work primarily by providing an affinity space, organizing outdoor trips, hosting creative projects and speaker events, and engaging in advocacy to reimagine contemporary environmentalism as a more inclusive effort for a safe and sustainable world.

Yale Student Energy Association

Interested in sustainable energy, its challenges, and its opportunities? Have you ever wondered what you can do to make change? Have you ever wanted to play a huge role in a project that could bring about actual, tangible change and impact future Yale students?

The Yale Student Energy Association is Yale's premier student-run energy club. The club addresses issues ranging from new solar technologies to carbon capture and sequestration to nuclear fusion, and provides students with an opportunity to learn from the very best in the field through the Lecture series and first-hand opportunities to lead an initiative that would impact Yale's community.

Through YSEA's innovative and fluid program, the EIA method, we are able to provide students an opportunity to meet other students from various backgrounds and fields and work on pressing issues in the field of energy. Our focus is to increase awareness of the importance of the energy transition, and educate the students to the current developments in the energy industry.

The Environmental Education Collaborative

Created in April of 2019, the Environmental Education Collaborative (EECO), is Yale’s first student organization dedicated to inspiring a generation of environmentally-conscious individuals by teaching K-12 students in New Haven. EECO builds strong relationships with local schools and community organizations by developing and teaching place-based curriculum, as well as by leading field trips in New Haven and implementing sustained environmental education projects to reinforce and expand the scope of students’ learning in the classroom.
